Import from contextual advertising

If you have advertising campaigns in Yandex.Direct or Google Ads, you can quickly transfer data from them to myTarget using the *.xlsx file. For this:

  • upload the *.xlsx file from Yandex.Direct or Google Ads;
  • load the *.xlsx file into myTarget;
  • create ads in myTarget;
  • set up myTarget ad campaign.
Step 1. Downloading a file from Yandex.Direct and Google Ads
To copy the settings of ad campaigns, save them to the *.xlsx file.

Yandex.Direct (web interface)

  1. Log in to your Yandex.Direct account and go to the old interface.
  2. On the "Campaigns" tab, select the ad campaign.
  3. Click "Export".
  4. In the export settings, specify the file format - "Yandex.Direct (.xlsx)". If you want to copy archive objects, enable this option.
  5. Click "Export".
  6. Enter the file name and select the folder where you want to save the file. Click "Save".

All groups, ads and phrases of the selected campaign are saved to the file.

Yandex.Direct Commander

On the Campaigns tab, select the campaigns you want to save to a file.

  1. Click the "Export" button.
  2. Select the Yandex.Direct format (*.xlsx).
  3. Click "Export".
  4. Enter the file name and select the folder where you want to save the file. Click "Save".

All groups, ads and phrases of selected campaigns are saved to the file. Please note that the data will be saved from Direct Commander, and not from the Yandex.Direct server.

Google Ads

  1. Log in to your Ads account.
  2. Select the ad campaign or ad group.
  3. Go to the "Keywords" section.
  4. Select all relevant keywords from campaigns and ad groups.
  5. Click "Save to File".
  6. Select the format *.xlsx and save the file.

The keywords and selected items are saved to the file.

Import restrictions

  • Maximum 1000 lines in the uploaded file.
  • Maximum of 100 ad groups per download.
  • Maximum of 500 unique stop words per ad group.
  • File size — no more than 5 MB.
Step 2. Download the file to myTarget
1. Go to the "Campaigns" section and click on "Create Campaign":
2. Click "Import from file". By default, it is proposed to merge all ad groups from an advertising campaign into one myTarget advertising campaign - this makes it possible to reach the audience and prevent one myTarget client's campaigns competition. You can uncheck the "Combine ad groups into one campaign" flag, whereas each ad group will be created by campaign.
Import from the file
3. In the window that opens, click on "Download xlsx file" and select the *.xlsx file that you downloaded from Yandex.Direct or Google Ads.

Exported data settings

When you upload a file with exported data from Google Ads or Yandex.Direct, in myTarget will appear lists, segments and campaigns based on this data. They will be marked with a prefix "imported", which you can easily find in the list.

If you merged all groups into one campaign, the list, segment and campaign created in myTarget will contain the name of the *.xlsx file from which you downloaded them.

If you are creating a campaign in each group, then lists of content ads must be presented.

When exporting from Yandex.Direct or Google Ads to the list of contextual phrases, myTarget displays the phrase and specified stop words. The created segment contains this list, and created campaign contains created segment. If you have divided ad groups, this is applicable for each campaign you create.
Step 3. Create ads in myTarget
The system checks the headers for the number of symbols. If they pass the test, advertisements will be created in myTarget. If not, you will see a warning.

In this case, you can:

  • continue importing without creating ads (and then completely creating them from the myTarget account),

  • cancel the export (no objects in myTarget will be created, you can edit the *.xlsx file if necessary and repeat the export).

If you export data from Yandex.Direct, myTarget will check image links. Found images will be placed in the creative library, and if ads are created, the images will be used for myTarget banners.

The rest of myTarget advertising campaign settings are set by default.
Step 4. Setting and launch of advertising campaigns
When the system processes the data, a message appears with the number of campaigns created. Click "Show Campaigns" to open the list of newly created ad campaigns.
Imported file
Auto-generated campaigns are created stopped. Before you run auto-generated campaigns, check:

  • availability of all necessary announcements,
  • targeting options for desktop or mobile devices,
  • auction strategy,
  • campaign bids,
  • targeting — it may be necessary to add additional conditions for the selection of the advertising audience.
